چکیده

Real-time systems require guaranteed timely delivery of messages; failure to deliver a message on time may result in failure of the system and possible damage to life and property. We describe here an extension and implementation of an algorithm developed by Kandlur et al. for guaranteed message delivery. We extend this by adding two-phase randomized routing in the channel establishment procedure; this scheme requires each route to go first to a randomly chosen intermediate node, and only then to its actual destination. This scheme balances the load demonstrably better than direct routing, with respect to the likelihood of acceptance of each individual channel. Given certain constraints on the generation and size of messages, it is possible to schedule those messages such that messages arrive within their desired deadlines. Experiments on an 8-node network demonstrate the feasibility of the approach, and provide verification of Kandlur’s algorithm.

NON-FRAGILE GUARANTEED COST CONTROL OF T-S FUZZY TIME-VARYING DELAY SYSTEMS WITH LOCAL BILINEAR MODELS

This paper focuses on the non-fragile guaranteed cost control problem for a class of T-S fuzzy time-varying delay systems with local bilinear models. The objective is to design a non-fragile guaranteed cost state feedback controller via the parallel distributed compensation (PDC) approach such that the closed-loop system is delay-dependent asymptotically stable and the closed-loop performance i...

A Reliable Multicast Transport Protocol for Communicating Real-Time Distributed Objects

The TMO (Time-triggered Message-triggered Object) model is a well-known real-time object model for distributed and timeliness-guaranteed computing. A distributed environment of the model may be configured by a number of the TMO nodes as a private network. It requires high reliability due to the feature of a distributed IPC message. The TCP seems to be suitable to this model. However, if a messa...

Probabilistic Bounds on Message Delivery for the Totem Single-Ring Protocol

For fault-tolerant real-time distributed systems, the probability that a message is not delivered within its real-time deadline must be small enough that it does not adversely aaect system reliability. We investigate the delivery of messages for the Totem Protocol, a reliable ordered broadcast protocol that we have developed for fault-tolerant distributed systems with physical broadcasts over a...

Optimal precision in the presence of uncertainty

We consider the problem of achieving coordinated actions in a real-time distributed system. In particular, we consider how closely (in terms of real time) processors can be guaranteed to perform a particular action, in a system where message transmission is guaranteed, but there is some uncertainty in message transmission time. We present an algorithm to achieve optimal precision in arbitrary n...

The Flexible Time-Triggered (FTT) Paradigm: An Approach to QoS Management in Distributed Real-Time Systems

Real-time distributed systems are becoming pervasive, supporting a broad range of applications such as avionics, automotive, adaptive control, robotics, computer vision and multimedia. In such systems, several activities are executed on different nodes and cooperate via message passing. One increasingly important concept is that of Quality-of-Service (QoS), i.e. a system performance metric from...
